Gravel Hill Baptist Church
OUR HISTORY
Gravel Hill Baptist Church is one of many local churches which comprise the Ohio Baptist Churches/USA and thus, the American Baptist Churches/USA. The association principle bonds them with sister churches in the Marietta Association.
GHBC began in 1893 as a mission extension of the Sistersville Baptist Church. The church facility was completed and in 1898. The church was duly constituted on June 11, 1913. Thirty-three members were dismissed from the mother church in Sistersville and became the charter members of the new fellowship which applied and was accepted into the Marietta Association. The first GHBC pastor was Rev. H. L Clifton.
GHBC continues a vital ministry in Fly, Ohio an surrounding communities today. Their mission has not changed through the years. The Great Commission is the evangelical mandate. Looking forward with anticipation, we seek to know God's will and share Christ's mandate to "love one anther." The "Day of the Lord" is bright with the promise of victory.
